Ten Steps
to a Killer Story!

What's your story?

Completed a manuscript, and wonder how it reads? Need another pair of eyes to catch those troublesome typos?
Let's find your happy ending. Today!

What You Get in a Proofread

A Proofread focuses on your writing technique: spelling, punctuation, grammar and clarity. Each error is marked in blue, immediately followed by the correction in bold red. You'll have no problem understanding our edits.

What You Get in an Opinion

An Opinion focuses on your content. We break it down into three phases:

A thorough perusal First, we approach your manuscript as if we just bought it at the local bookstore. We curl up somewhere, comfy and cozy, and simply read from first page to last.

A thorough dissection Second, we go back to the beginning and analyze the development of the story, chapter by chapter. This is when we insert comments into the text to show you what we're thinking as we read. You'll know when our attention rises or falls. When we pause to reflect or scratch our head. When we laugh or cry or shake our fist in the air as we root for the lead character.

A thorough evaluation Third, we compose our in-depth Opinion at the end of the manuscript. This is where we examine key story elements: voice, characterization, conflict, dialogue, pace, plot, climax and ending. Do all these elements appear, and work, in your story? If not, we don't just point out the problem, we offer solutions. By the time you've reached the last line of our Opinion, you'll know exactly what to do to turn your story into a marketable product.

And that's not all. Once you share your manuscript with us, you become part of the ReadingWriters family. We're here to answer all follow-up questions, free of charge.

If you'd like a taste of our work, check out the Contest Opinions. Otherwise, begin the tour of our home by clicking the left-hand links or by following the tiny writing guide at the bottom of each page. We're eager to read you!

Making a Scene
with
Mush Pump and Ice Noodle

"Yeah, yeah, I get it. Let me go." Ice Noodle fell to the ground, fighting for air. He stretched out on his back and stared up at the clouds until his breathing calmed. "Daryl thinks Reva's in love with his brother. And it's killing him."

"Hark!" Mush Pump raised a hand to his brow. "We've made contact!"

"Fine. I can do that." Ice Noodle sat up. "Daryl goes down to his studio and bangs out a tune on the piano. He's a musician. Logical reaction."

Mush Pump glared down, folding his arms.

Ice Noodle tried again. "Okay, he bangs out a sad tune."
